Built in 1998, when Nagano was hosting the Winter Olympics and Japan’s ski boom was still in full swing, this private ski house carries the mood of that era in all the right ways. We kept the good parts — the scale, the optimism, the sense that a ski trip should feel a little larger than life — and added the things that make it work for today.
The Layer | Tangarm sleeps twelve comfortably, with six en suite rooms (five Western‑style, one Japanese‑style), a commercial‑style kitchen built for real cooking, and a dining and playroom big enough for the whole group to stay up later than planned. Guests call it “absolutely gorgeous and perfect for groups,” which is the kind of review we love to see.
The living room is warm and generous, the entryway is large enough for an easy entry with your luggage, and the dry room actually does its job. Two large shower baths handle the post‑slope rush without complaint. Outside, there’s a covered porch and a deck that catches the morning light before the lifts start moving.
You’re three minutes from Tangram–Madarao Tokyu Resort — close enough to be convenient, far enough to feel like your own place. A premium Nagano ski house for groups who want privacy, space, and a bit of 90s ski‑era charm. Groups tend to tell us it’s the best setup they’ve found in Japan.
We’re open for the 2026–2027 winter season.
